Celebrating Arab American Women Authors During National Reading Month: Our Book Recommendations Series -Part 4

In honor of National Reading Month, we have some great recommendations of books written by Arab American Women authors that we will bring to you.

This week we recommend author May Mokdad and her book “Are You Okay?”.

May Mokdad is an author based out of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, whose book “Are You Okay?” explores loss and emotions after a young girl loses her mother and is left angry, sad, and alone. Her friend Huhu helps her cope with her sudden loss with life-changing strategies.

Mokdad’s writing is candid and vulnerable, and she doesn’t shy away from sharing the difficult moments of losing a loved one. Through her writing, she offers a message of hope and reminds readers that they are not alone in their struggles.

“Are You Okay?” is a must-read and an important addition to the conversation with kids about feelings and loss. To purchase “Are You Okay?” click here: “Are You Okay?” By May Mokdad
